The One Anothers

One Anothers

Listening.
Working together.
Valuing difference.
Leaning in and learning.

These are just a few ways we can begin to see people as not just “others” but as “one anothers.”

How can we live out the one anothers that Jesus taught us before he ascended to heaven? What would our families, friendships, and society look like if the Church truly lived in peace, love, and faith with one another over the many centuries since Jesus came?

While this topic is definitely biblically inspired, science has underscored the need for community many times over. The intent of this blog is to create space for discussions around the phenomenon of isolation happening in urban areas and the need for community. Amy wants to invite others to explore how the body of Christ can be an answer for so many who need belonging. The message of Jesus does bring hope to our culture, not condemnation. Hopefully, through the mish-mash of theology and social understanding, we can begin to dialogue on how to restore the brokenness in our cities and neighborhoods.

Inspiring Texts:

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
– John 13:34-35

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
– Philippians 2:1-11.

“Cohesion occurs when people who are ‘other’ to one another become involved in a relationship consisting of the exploration of worldviews and find a degree of shared language and mutual respect together”
